At Líneas Romero, we continue to move forward to offer increasingly efficient, comfortable, and sustainable maritime transport. Today we take another step in this commitment by adding two new vessels to our fleet: the María Rosa R. and the Juan Jorge R. These additions reinforce our commitment to innovation and continuous improvement, allowing us to offer a travel experience adapted to the needs of residents and visitors who trust us every day to discover the islands.
Two vessels, two new experiences
Each boat has been designed to meet the specific needs of our services.
The María Rosa R is a state-of-the-art catamaran intended for the company's maritime excursions, especially reinforcing the routes to Papagayo and sunset departures. It features spacious panoramic decks, greater comfort during navigation, improved accessibility, and a more agile and digitized boarding process to offer an even more pleasant experience.
On the other hand, the fast ferry Juan Jorge R, with a capacity for 360 passengers and a speed of up to 20 knots, offers a fast and comfortable service between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, with a capacity for 350 passengers, strengthening both passenger and freight transport between the two islands.
A modern fleet at the service of the Canary Islands
With these additions, 85% of Líneas Romero's fleet is less than eight years old, a reflection of a constant renewal strategy that we have been promoting for years.
Vessels such as the Juanita Cat, the Don Juan R., the Alexandro R., and the Luis R. have joined this process, consolidating a modern fleet prepared to offer a safe, efficient, and quality service.
Committed to sustainability
Innovation also means navigating more responsibly. Both the María Rosa R. and the Juan Jorge R. have been built in reinforced fiberglass, a material that reduces the weight of the vessel and allows for lower fuel consumption.
Furthermore, both incorporate state-of-the-art MTU engines, which optimize energy efficiency and comply with international emissions regulations.
These improvements add to the environmental commitment we have maintained for years by measuring our carbon footprint, the Biosphere Committed certification, and the Excelsior recognition from Soy Canary Green.
A family tradition that keeps sailing
As is tradition in our company, the new vessels are named after members of the Romero family. On this occasion, the María Rosa R. and the Juan Jorge R. pay tribute to two of the Romero siblings, highlighting the legacy of a family business that, generation after generation, continues to connect the islands with the same enthusiasm as when it began almost a century ago.
We keep looking to the future
The official presentation of both vessels took place at Marina Lanzarote, in an event that brought together institutional representatives, authorities, and professionals from the maritime and business sectors. For Federico Romero, CEO of Líneas Romero and president of the Líneas Romero Foundation, these additions represent another step in the evolution of the company:
