Luis R: the new ship continuing almost a century of history at sea

A legacy that began between Lanzarote and La Graciosa

Since 1930, the sea has been our path. What started as a small rowboat carrying mail and connecting the inhabitants of La Graciosa with Lanzarote, has become, almost a century later, a story of innovation, effort, and commitment to our islands.

Today, that story continues with the Luis R, the latest addition to the Líneas Romero fleet and a new step in our commitment to connecting people, destinations, and generations.

A tribute to those who set our course

The name of this new ship is no coincidence. The Luis R was born as a tribute to Luis Romero, a key figure in the company's history and part of the second family generation that drove the transformation of the old Naviera Toledo into what we know today as Líneas Romero.

An acknowledgment to those who, generation after generation, have dedicated their lives to the sea and built a family business that, almost 100 years later, maintains the same essence: closeness, a passion for sailing, and a commitment to the Canary Islands.

A ship designed for the present and the future

Built by the fiberglass division of Astilleros Gondán, the Luis R is the third ship this shipyard has developed for our fleet, following the Don Juan R and the Alejandro R.

This modern catamaran has been designed for short-distance routes between islands, offering a more comfortable, stable, and secure navigation. Its main features include:

• 31 meters in length.
• Capacity for 350 passengers.
• Glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) hull and an optimized design.
• Systems that reduce vertical movements during navigation, improving comfort for both passengers and crew.

Every crossing is a continuation of the story of hundreds of people who have been and are part of Líneas Romero: skippers, sailors, ground staff, families, and passengers who have accompanied us for generations.

Because we don't just sail between islands. We sail stories.
