Sophisticated holiday in Lanzarote

Playa Blanca is the fastest growing resort in Lanzarote. Located in the south of the island, it is a perfect place for a sophisticated relaxing holiday, with its large yacht marina and a wide variety of high-quality apartments, villas, and restaurants. Playa Blanca has a wide offer of bars, shops, and restaurants for all tastes and pockets.

The area of Playa Blanca is known for its combination of maritime tradition and sustainable tourism, and it has received various awards for its sustainability, conservation, and respect for the environment over the years.

Originally a small fishing village, the place was always popular, having the port for ferries to Fuerteventura. In comparison with other resorts of Lanzarote, Playa Blanca is the quietest, most tranquil one.

How to get to Playa Blanca

The resort is located in the south of Lanzarote, around 35 kilometres from the airport and from the capital of the island – Arrecife. If you want to reach Playa Blanca from Fuerteventura, it will take you a one short ferry ride to get there. The ferries depart from Corralejo 4 times a day and sail to Playa Blanca, Lanzarote. What to do in Playa Blanca

Beaches of Playa Blanca

The beaches of Playa Blanca are loved for its crystal clear, emerald green water and fine golden sand. The location of the beaches – in the south of Lanzarote – ensures pleasant and comfortable climate. During the winter months, this is the warmest area of the island. The geographical position of the beaches of Playa Blanca creates a ‘sheltered’ area, perfect for swimming and sunbathing.

There are four main beaches in the area of Playa Blanca:

Playa Blanca – the ‘white beach’, from where the city takes its name. This beach is the heart of the resort and has been given the European Blue Flag for its cleanliness. As it is located in the centre of the resort, there are many bars, restaurants, and shops around. This is the longest beach in the area, the town’s seafront promenade.

Playa Flamingo – if you turn to the west, in a few minutes’ walk you will reach the ‘flamingo beach’. It is a quiet and tranquil beach, perfect for a fun holiday with children. It is well equipped with showers and offers adapted access to the beach for the disabled. Furthermore, it is the nearest beach to Montaña Roja and the lighthouse of Pechiguera.

Playa Papagayo – is one of the most popular beaches of Lanzarote. It is a cove of white sand, reduced size, and great beauty. It is actually a set of small beaches. The transparent emerald water remains still all day long and is perfect for snorkelling and for letting the children splash around. Close to Playa Papagayo is located the Natural Monument of Los Ajaches, that is also worth exploring. You can book our excursion I love Papagayo to discover these beaches on a luxurious catamaran.

Playa Dorada – located in the east, the ‘golden beach’ is a nice stretch of fine sand with a family atmosphere. It is easily accessible and provides safe swimming, as you are protected from the waves by groyne.

Restaurants and bars

Playa Blanca offers many restaurants with high-quality seafood. Our recommendation would be La Romántica – the restaurant well-known for its creative menu of food of all kinds and its beautiful sea views.

From the bars, we suggest you try Jungle Bar for a drink in the evening. There, you will enjoy the rich atmosphere, created by live music and extraordinary views. Jungle Bar is also open during lunch hours and serves nice meals.

Shopping

Marina Rubicón – the marina and the area around – is a perfect place for shopping in Playa Blanca. During Wednesdays and Saturdays, the pier is filled with attractive shops, as those are the market days. In the market of Maria Rubicón you can find anything you can wish for. You cannot fail to find the ideal gift and the most original souvenir there.
